Original Item: Only One Available. This example was produced by Solinger Metalwaren-Fabrik Stöcker & Co. GmbH, also known as SMF, who were one of the major producers of this knife during WWII. Their “Seated King” over Solingen trademark is seen on the blade, as well as ROSTFREI (rust free) indicating stainless steel construction.
This example has fine, stainless steel components. There are no numbers stamped on the parts of this knife, which is different from a typical example. The blade release functions properly. The lock for the marlin spike unfortunately is not functional, as the spring has cracked through, a common issue due to the springs used, which unfortunately are not spring steel.
The blade of this knife is in extremely choice condition. It retains much of the original crossgrain and is still sharp. The blade does not appear to have been sharpened after the factory.
The grip plates are of walnut with the standard four retaining rivets. These plates are in very good condition throughout, with some nice curl to the wood grain on both sides.
A very nice rare Luftwaffe gravity knife by SMF!
