Original Item: One Only. A very rare collection of Published cartoons in the well known British National Newspaper “The Daily Mirror” by William Kerridge Haselden (1872-1953). Created by the man who was known as the “Father of the British Strip Cartoon” this is a tatty 36 page volume published in 1915 filled with these famous early WW1 satirical caricature cartoons of the German Kaiser Wilhelm and his son, The Crown Prince. Hugely popular at the time this original copy of the published collection spans just the first six months of World War One. The outer soft cover regrettably missing however all 36 single sided pages are still intact. An Extremely rare publication to find in any condition; I found this at a local Library Sale having been tipped off by one of the staff that it was to be “let go”. Originally published at Five Shillings, half a week?s wages in 1915, I had to pay $70.00 way back in 1981 and take my Co-conspirator out to dinner as a thank you. Each cartoon was politically significant to the current events of the day, six published from each month from August 1914 to end January 1915 resulting in a fascinating collection, which is offered together with some basic research about the illustrator.
