Gefreiter (Corporal) Erich Pedazus was assigned to Infanterie-Regiment 287 which was formed on September 22, 1939 as Regiment of the 5th wave at the military training area Bergen at Celle and subordinated to the 96th Infantry Division. The regiment was on leave from August 1940 to February 1941 and received on March 5, 1941 in place of the 13th (grenade launcher) company a lG company. On May 31, 1942, the III. Battalion dissolved and the regiment on 15 October 1942 in grenadier regiment 287 renamed.
